About me
After obtaining my medical degree (MBBS) in Greece in 1993 I came to London where I have lived and worked ever since. I obtained the Diploma in Clinical Neurology at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in London in 1994 and then went on to train in psychiatry. After becoming a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2003, I completed my higher specialist training in 2006 and immediately went on to lead a clinical team as a Consultant. My commitment to delivering the best quality of care led to my appointment as an Associate Clinical Director for the adult mental health services covering the City & Hackney area of east London between 2009-2012. I left the NHS at the end of 2014 in order to meet the demand from my private practice.
Every day we are asked to do more in less time and usually the unspoken expectation from those around us is that we cope and get on with it. The balances that we keep are fragile and looking after our mental health more important than ever.
I am interested in helping people overcome the effect of mood problems, anxiety and trauma on their lives. Drugs and alcohol all too frequently become a way of coping and need specialist help. I also have a special interest in Attention Deficit Disorder (in adults) and chronic pain presentations, because of their frequent overlap with anxiety, depression and misuse of drugs/alcohol.
My most important goal is a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs that will help give you back control of your life, whilst causing the least possible disruption to it.
Areas of interest
Adult ADHD; Anxiety; Bipolar Disorder; Depression and resistant depression; Alcohol and drug addiction, as a comorbid diagnosis; OCD; Trauma (complex and PTSD)
