About me
Dr Nicoletta Gentili is a consultant Child Psychiatrist, leading the only Deaf child and adolescent inpatient unit in the country, based in London and part of St George’s NHS Mental Health Trust. She has worked in the field since 1998 and has developed a special interest in infant relation, emotions and language acquisition.
In 2003, she moved back to Italy to be part of a research group, studying the different patterns of brain activation in individuals observing pain in loved ones, using fMRI scanning. Whilst there she also attended a master course on neuroscience, constructivism and phenomenology.
In 2008, back in the UK, she participated in the Baby Lab at Birbeck University, in the team of Professor Mark Johnson, to learn more about current research with babies and toddlers. Nicoletta is also a Family Therapist, Cognitive post-rationalist, and MBT trained. She has been working in private practice for the past 11 years with children, adolescents and adults using her therapeutic skills.
