About me
Mr Edward Seel attended Southampton University Medical School in 1993 with subsequent orthopaedic training in Wessex deanery, considered nationally as one of the best academic training schemes. His sub-specialty training in spinal surgery took place at Southampton University Hospital and at fellowship level at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen’s Square, London. These experiences have given Mr Seel the breadth of knowledge and skills that underpins his personal expertise.
Mr Seel practice is sub-specialised to the field of spine surgery and provides services for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with spinal conditions in Buckinghamshire including non-operative, injection therapies as well as all aspects of open spine surgery. Areas of specific interest include sports injuries, back pain, sciatica, cervical disease (neck or arm pain), adult deformity, motion preservation surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
Mr Seel is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is heavily involved in education having completed a Postgraduate Masters in Medical Education at Dundee University. For his thesis, he examined the Southampton University Medical School curriculum and redesigned the undergraduate musculoskeletal component. He is also NHS Clinical Tutor for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust and a member of the Specialty Training Committee for Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Oxford Deanery School of Surgery. He is a contributor to the AO Spine Europe spinal trauma curriculum and has undertaken research into orthopaedic and spinal conditions presenting his research findings on national and international stages.
Mr Seel always maintains a healthy balance between academic and social activities. Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
