About me

Dr Simon Hughes is Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Director of Guy's Cancer Academy, and an Honorary Reader at King’s College London (School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences).

He specialises in the treatment of Urological cancers: Bladder Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Radiotherapy for other Urological Cancers, SABR / Cyberknife / MRLinac (for Urological Cancers), Radionuclide Therapy (for Urological Cancers)

His research interests include tracking tumour motion, the integration of novel imaging into radiotherapy treatment, and the combination of drug therapy with radiotherapy. He is the UK lead for the ENZARAD and DASL-HICAP studies.

Simon’s other main interest is medical education. He is the Education and Training Lead for Cancer at King’s Health Partners; Director of Guy's Cancer Academy, and a member of the Education Council for the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Nationally, Simon is a Trustee for the British Uro-oncology Group. He was the co-opted oncologist for the British Association of Urological Surgeons: Oncology Section Committee from 2013-2017; and is a past President of the Oncology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine (2011-2012), where he served on council for over 10 years.
