About me
Dr Das's clinical interests are in the assessment of patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations and hypertension. He has specialist interests in coronary artery disease and its treatment with coronary stenting and cardiovascular imaging using the new 'state of the art' techniques of cardiac CT and cardiovascular MRI. He has Level 3 Society Accreditation in cardiovascular MRI. He is a high volume surgeon performing TAVI procedures in patients with aortic stenosis.
Dr Das was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Freeman Hospital in 2010. He is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University and is heavily involved in teaching and training. He has completed the Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education at Newcastle University. He is deputy clinical director of the cardiothoracic unit at the Freeman Hospital.
Dr Das studied undergraduate medicine at Leeds University. He underwent specialist training in cardiology in the North East of England. He also spent 18 months in Adelaide, Australia learning the skills of coronary intervention and cardiovascular MRI and CT.
Dr Das enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. His interests incude running and cycling to keep fit. He often spends his weekends watching Newcastle United with his children at St James's Park.
