About me

I am a Consultant ophthalmic surgeon with specialist expertise in cataract surgery, oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery.

I have a particular special interest in cataract surgery. I perform safe, efficient, injection free cataract surgery. I run a dedicated cataract assessment clinic on Monday afternoons that is able to offer safe, efficient surgery within days.

I have recently been appointed national clinical lead for ophthalmology by the 'Getting It Right First Time' organisation that aims to optimise and streamline cataract services nationally.

I was appointed to the position of 'Chair of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Cataract Workforce Guidance Committee' that aims to provide a nationwide gold standard for cataract treatment which is an extremely exciting project to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable cataract services for the future. I was involved in designing COVID safe cataract pathways as part of this project.

I also run a busy oculoplastic service at the Countess of Chester Hospital. I offer extensive expertise and experience in the treatment of all eyelid (droopy/saggy eyelids, blepharitis, eyelid lesions etc) and watery eye conditions including surgical solutions.

I also practices general ophthalmology including the medical management of glaucoma and many other conditions.

I believe in offering a service of the highest quality to all my patients and giving every patient the time that they require for their consultation.

Mr Bhargava practices privately at the Nuffield Grosvenor Hospital in Chester.
