About me
Jeremy is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon, previous Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and Regional Clinical Lead for the Thames Valley Spine Network.
He graduated from Bristol University with Basic Surgical Training in Bristol and Surrey, and subsequently as a Specialist Registrar in Oxford. Prior to his appointment as a consultant he completed a 12 month fellowship in Vancouver, Canada. The Combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Spine Program in Vancouver is one of the few centres in the world where the two surgical disciplines are truly integrated giving the Fellows a comprehensive training in all aspects of cutting edge spinal surgery. He has brought that training back to Oxford and in concert with the existing surgical team and more recent additions has seen Oxford develop into perhaps he most forward thinking complex spine centre in the UK. He aspires to integrate orthopaedic spine with the neurosurgical spinal services to take consolidate that position
Jeremy is spine lead consultant for Oxford’s Bone and Soft Tissue Tumour Service and has developed the regional pathway for tumour associated spinal cord compression.
He is on the Steering Committee of the AOSpine Knowledge Forum for Spinal Tumours. The AOSpine Knowledge Forums (KF) are pathology focused working groups acting on behalf of AOSpine in their domain of scientific expertise. Each forum consists of a steering committee of up to 10 international spine experts who meet with Associate members to discuss research, assess the best evidence for current practices, and formulate clinical trials to advance their field of spine expertise.
His research interests also include clinical outcomes based research for spinal deformity and assessing the role of bone substitutes in spinal fusion.
