About me
As an oncoplastic surgeon, he incorporates a wide range of procedures to maximise cancer and aesthetic outcomes when performing breast cancer Ashok Chouhan was awarded his MBBS and Master of Surgery in India. After obtaining FRCS in Edinburgh, he has worked in both general surgery and breast surgery. However, for the past 17 years he has concentrated on breast care, involving both screening and symptomatic patients.
For the past 5 years he has been a Consultant breast oncoplastic and reconstructive surgeon at Morecambe Bay University Hospitals NHS Trust, Lancaster. He has from October 2015 moved back to the south coast and currently holds a similar position with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, Brighton .
surgery. He performs primary breast reconstruction following mastectomy with implant and biological mesh. When patient choice and clinical indication allows, he performs LD muscle based reconstruction with or without implant and lipomodelling. For symmetrisation and also for aesthetic reasons, he performs breast reduction, augmentation and lipo-modelling.
He regularly attends national and international conferences in areas of his special interest to keep abreast with innovative techniques and new developments. He has a passion for teaching the next generation of doctors and was previously an honorary lecturer at Lancaster Medical School.
He aims to provide care in personal and holistic way. He discusses cases in multidisciplinary team meetings in order to provide patients with a tailored and effective management plan to achieve excellent long-term outcomes. He pays meticulous attention to minor details and his patients, staff and colleagues appreciate his good aesthetic outcomes.
