He qualified from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 1996 and initially trained in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. David has worked extensively in professional cycling, including as race doctor for the Tour of Britain and team physician to WorldTour professional cycling teams. He has expertise in cycling biomechanics, training and injuries and has contributed to education and development within the cycling industry.
He also spent many years as a Consultant at Headley Court, the UK Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, where he led a multidisciplinary team in lower limb injury rehabilitation and the diagnosis and management of exercise-induced leg pain.
