About me

Prof Maher works on the Interstitial Lung Disease Unit at the Royal Brompton. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of fibrosing lung disease. His clinical interests include; idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, lung disease associated with connective tissue disease, lymphangeiolyomyomatosis (LAM), histiocytosis X and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

He is currently Chair of the Specialised Respiratory Medicine CRG working with the NHS Commissioning Board. He was an external expert for the NICE Pirfenidone Technology Appraisal.

He is approved to prescribe pirfenidone (Esbriet) and nintedinib (Ofev) in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
