About me
I have been a consultant since 2008, an honorary senior lecturer at Newcastle University since 2009, and a professor in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Sunderland in 2021.
I have a special interest in the management of complex PCI and I am internationally recognised as one of the leading interventionalists in terms of complex and CTO PCI and regularly treat patients who have been turn down for cardiac surgery. I am in the top three highest volume operators in the UK.
I am an international proctor, physician trainer and a faculty member of numerous international meetings and a regular live case operator. I regularly conduct training courses for consultant colleagues in multiple coronary interventions including chronic total occlusion, complex coronary interventions and adjunctive devices such as rotablation and laser.
I also have a special interest in percutaneous Mitral valve interventions and one of the few operators in the UK who perform these interventions.
I act as an expert for the Government Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. I am also an examiner and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the European Society of Cardiology.
I have over 100 publications and over 100 oral presentations in major international journals and meetings.
