About me
I was jointly appointed as a Consultant to the Royal Surrey County Hospital and the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in December 2009. Following dual undergraduate training in dentistry and medicine, I completed specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on the South Coast Training Programme, and am now on the specialist lists for both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (held by General Medical Council) and Oral Surgery (held by the General Dental Council).
My subspecialty interests include oral cancer and the early recognition and treatment of premalignant oral lesions. I run regular “walk-in” clinics for patients with oral mucosal lesions concerned about cancer. I have co-designed and developed an Enhanced Recovery Programme for patients undergoing major head and neck cancer surgery. This has resulted in patients staying less time in hospital, with the outcomes being published.
I am committed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, and have been an invited speaker at many local and regional meetings. I am an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor and examine for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
