About me
After graduating in 1990, and achieving an MB BCh, and MSc, in Gynaecology, Mr El-Ghobashy was awarded a prestigious Medical Research Scholarship and gained an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in reproductive medicine. Whilst working as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in Liverpool, he went on to receive another grant to study for a second MD.
His passion in womens health led him to undertake research in Gynaecological Oncology. He investigated the causes and early diagnosis of cervical cancer. He was awarded the degree from Liverpool University in 2005. His work helped introduce different techniques to differentiate cervical pre-cancerous and cancerous cells from benign ones. He completed the general training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Yorkshire in 2007. He subsequently spent two and a half years of training in Gynaecology Oncology in Leeds and visited leading centres in the USA and Germany as part of travelling fellowships. He achieved the sub-specialist accreditation status in Gynaecological Cancer from the RCOG in 2009.
Mr El-Ghobashy is committed to patient care and has always focused his attention to the development of keyhole procedures. He was successful in securing funding to buy/update machines / instruments essential for safe laparoscopic surgery.
