About me

Dr Agarwal is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in gastro-intestinal and gynaecological malignancies, and cancers of unknown primary. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College (London). He trained at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research (London) where he did his PhD, and subsequently also trained in Phase 1 trails / novel drug development, at one of the world’s largest cancer Phase 1 trails unit at RMH.
He then moved to the MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA) for a post-doctoral fellowship (2007-2009), before joining Imperial College London as a Consultant Medical Oncologist, and Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Oncology, Hammersmith Hospital. He moved to Northampton General Hospital as Lead for Research, Acute Oncology and Cancer of Unknown Primary services in 2013.
Dr Agarwal is passionate about delivering excellent holistic cancer care, and divides his time between direct clinical patient care, clinical trials and a research programme focused on the identification of novel clinically useful biomarkers and targeted therapies in cancer. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, in journals such as Lancet, Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Nature Reviews Cancer and Science Translational Medicine.
