About me
Dr Nayar was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Freeman Hospital in October 2007.
He completed his specialist gastroenterology training in Liverpool, where he developed a strong interest in therapeutic endoscopy. He later advanced his expertise in pancreaticobiliary (PB) medicine at the Freeman Hospital, which is both the regional centre and one of the largest PB units in the UK.
Dr Nayar specialises in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of gastroenterological conditions, including dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, and irritable bowel syndrome. He is fully skilled in all forms of gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
His subspecialty interest lies in diseases of the pancreas and bile duct, and he is one of fewer than ten PB physicians in the UK who provide both medical and advanced endoscopic treatments in this field. These include endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and a variety of other therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
