About me

Dr Natalie Direkze is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Dr Direkze initially completed a degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. During this time she realised her interests lay in the medical field and applied for a place to study medicine at St Mary's. Training posts in London followed and a PhD at Cancer Research UK concentrating on stem cell biology and pancreatic cancer. She completed her training at Bart's and the London NHS Trust before taking up a Consultant post at Frimley Park Hospital. After 6 years there she moved full circle to take up her current post back at St Mary's.

Dr Direkze has an interest in luminal gastroenterology with particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease and upper gastrointestinal disorders. She is experienced in the assessment, diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancer and the management of irritable bowel syndrome. She is an experienced endoscopist and performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy. She is a National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme accredited colonoscopist.
