About me

Dr Malcolm Prentice is a Consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Medicine with a special interest in thyroid diseases, pregnancy and thyroid diseases, general endocrinology, weight management and type 2 Diabetes. He trained at King's College Hospital, The Barts and The Royal London and Imperial Hospitals group in London. He was awarded a BSc(Hons) in Pharmacology from King's College, London. He has over thirty years' experience of inpatient and outpatient management of thyroid diseases, general and reproductive endocrinology, diabetes and general medicine. He was one of the first in the UK to set up a one-stop Thyroid Nodule Clinic with ultrasound and biopsy in 1990. He initiated the National Training Course for Thyroid Ultrasound and Biopsy jointly with the support of the Royal College of Radiologists, He is the co-author of the National Guidelines for the Management of Differentiated Thyroid Cancer (Editions 1 & 2). He is a provider of radioactive iodine treatment of thyrotoxicosis and goitre. He is a member of the UK Iodine Group, a non-profit voluntary group of thyroid clinicians and researchers working to improve the IQ and development UK babies. He has worked with the Society for Endocrinology to change the name of Diabetes Insipidus to AVP-D in order to improve patient safety.
