About me
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience, supporting adults, young people, and families with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I offer evidence-based CBT, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and have extensive experience working with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, health anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. My approach combines structured CBT interventions with a compassionate, individualised style, helping clients understand their difficulties, develop effective coping strategies, and make meaningful, lasting changes.
I have specialist experience in trauma-focused CBT and EMDR, supporting individuals affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and trauma-related difficulties. For over 10 years, I worked with veterans experiencing complex PTSD through Walking With The Wounded, providing evidence-based trauma interventions to support recovery, resilience, emotional regulation, and improved quality of life. Although this specialist veteran work has now concluded, it has provided me with extensive experience in working with trauma, moral injury, complex presentations, and the long-term impact of traumatic experiences.
Alongside my CBT training, I qualified as an Integrative Counsellor 18 years ago, which continues to inform my flexible, person-centred approach. I believe therapy works best when evidence-based techniques are combined with a strong therapeutic relationship, where individuals feel understood, respected, and supported at their own pace.
I have over 26 years of experience working within the NHS, including significant clinical and leadership experience. Prior to becoming a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I worked as a Registered Nurse specialising in Learning Disabilities (RNLD), supporting both adults and children with complex needs. I also worked within and managed a Learning Disability CAMHS team, providing clinical leadership and supporting young people with a wide range of presentations, including autism, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, sensory processing needs, complex communication difficulties, and mental health concerns.
I am experienced in assessing and treating a broad range of psychological difficulties, including:
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma
Generalised anxiety disorder
Social anxiety
Panic disorder
Specific phobias
Depression
Bipolar disorder
Sleep difficulties
Health anxiety
Grief and loss
Self-esteem difficulties
Relationship and couples difficulties
Chronic pain and adjustment difficulties
I have over 25 years' experience working with children and young people, supporting them with emotional wellbeing, anxiety, self-harm, autism, ADHD, behavioural difficulties, sleep problems, and developing emotional regulation skills. I draw upon CBT and integrative approaches to help young people build confidence, resilience, coping strategies, and a stronger understanding of themselves.
My earlier career as an RNLD gave me extensive experience of person-centred care, multidisciplinary working, safeguarding, and supporting individuals with complex presentations, including autism, sensory processing differences, communication challenges, and behaviours that may place significant demands on individuals and families.
I currently work from a peaceful woodland therapy setting in the Rowhedge area, offering a calm and private environment where clients can feel safe to explore their difficulties and work towards meaningful change. I am passionate about the therapeutic value of nature and animals and aim to provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.
