About me
Professor Geoff Higgins is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist dedicated to the treatment of lung cancer and thoracic malignancies.
Professor Higgins has responsibility for radiotherapy research at the University of Oxford. His personal research involves leading both laboratory studies as well as clinical trials aimed at increasing the efficacy of radiotherapy treatment, without exacerbating side effects. He has been Chief Investigator for five clinical trials relating to radiotherapy and new imaging modalities.
To date, he has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals such as Science, Nature Communications and Clinical Cancer Research. He has authored multiple book chapters including the Oxford Textbook of Cancer Biology
Professor Higgins graduated from Edinburgh University in 2000 and completed research in radiation therapy leading to a PhD from Oxford University in 2010. He subsequently established his own research group in Oxford and has been awarded numerous major research grants. He was appointed Chair of Clinical Oncology at Oxford University in 2022.
