I am Professor of Urology at University College London. I have led the robotic urology team at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust for over two years, including leading the response to the COVID pandemic. I have performed the most radical prostatectomies at the highest volume robotic pelvic surgery centre in the UK for each of the past 6 years. I have amongst the highest caseloads for robotic radical prostatectomy in the UK. I pride myself on my very low complication rate. Since Jan 2018, 600 prostatectomy patients- 0% major complications. I lead an international study of the NeuroSAFE technique.
I am happy to conduct telephone and video consults where preferable.
I have a strong track record of leadership and research in prostate cancer. I lead two national trials designed to investigate ways of improving outcomes for men with prostate cancer. I completed the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship in robotic surgery and was trained at Cambridge University where I worked for 5 years as a Lecturer.
I pioneer a technique called NeuroSAFE which is designed to increase the possibility of safe nerve sparing, and therefore sexual potency, after robotic radical prostatectomy. I am leading an NHS funded study testing how effective this technique is.
I am known for my work in scrutinising the way prostate cancer is diagnosed and treated and have featured in front page UK broadsheet headlines and national television news for this work.
I pride myself on maintaining strong relationships with the patients I treat and many are prepared to talk with people contemplating surgery under my care.
