About me
Professor Bijay Singh is one of the leading Upper Limb Surgeons in Kent and South East of England. He provides expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of common Upper Limb problems from shoulder to hand. He specialises in arthroscopic surgery of the upper limb and has a keen interest in treating sports injuries of the upper limb and also carries out joint replacement surgery for hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder joints. He works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Medway Maritime Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and is in the process of developing the Shoulder & Upper Limb Unit at Kent Institute of Medicine & Surgery.
He qualified in India in 1992 and has undergone higher training in UK. He then undertook three fellowships Australia & USA.
Prof. Singh frequently lectures on both trauma and upper limb related courses at both national and international meetings. He continues to be actively involved in upper limb research and he has published over 40 papers in national & international journals and a few book chapters. He has presented at over 100 national and international meetings and has organised number of workshops and revision courses. He is a keen teacher & committed to teaching this has been reflected by his appointment as a Visiting Professor & Co Programme director for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Canterbury Christchurch University. He has also been awarded the Clinical Tutor titles at the Brighton & Sussex Medical School as well as Royal College. He teaches regularly on the regional orthopaedic registrar training programme as well supervisor of M.Sc conducted by Brighton University.
At all his practices,nProf Singh uses advanced technology to help his patients. He uses ‘Knotless Technology’ for performing key-hole repair work to the shoulders – this causes less irritation in the shoulder. This helps patient to recover faster with less complications. For the shoulder replacements – he is the first at KIMS to use the ‘Computer Guided Replacement – the Signature Shoulders’ which helps place the prosthesis more accurately – giving longevity & better function.
Prof. Singh is a member of numerous academic societies including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Elbow & Shoulder Society, British Society for Surgery of Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow. He is the treasurer of Indian Orthopaedic Society UK.
