About me
Professor Boos has been a Consultant Cardiologist since 2008. He the clinical lead for research, heart failure, simple and complex devices and cardiopulmonary exercise testing services at Poole Hospital. Following his medical training and Junior doctor Posts in London he underwent the first four years of his specialist training in Wessex. Thereafter he transferred to Birmingham to undertake a 2 year higher research degree (MD) which was followed by a further 18 months training in heart failure and device therapy. He is an Honorary Consultant at Royal Bournemouth Hospital where undertakes weekly procedural lists and is a visiting fellow of Bournemouth University. He was appointed as a Visiting Professor in Cardiovascular medicine to Leeds Beckett University in 2016, and is also a visiting Professor to St George’s Medical School, Grenada, West Indies in 2011. He is the founder and Chairman of the South Coast Heart Failure Meeting which is the largest annual cardiovascular conference on the South Coast. He is a member of the Dorset Formulary Group, the Dorset CV network and the West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group. Professor Boos retains a strong research interest. He has >120 publications in peer reviewed journals and his current research interests include the effects of Cardiovascular adaptation to hostile environments (eg high altitude, military trauma and environmental temperature). His other clinical interests include Sports Cardiology, where he supports Bournemouth Football club, unexplained breathlessness and atrial fibrillation.
