About me
Mr Ben Jenkins completed an MD (Doctor of Medicine Higher Degree) at Newcastle University working on site from 2000-2002. His specialist area of interest in Urology research was MAP Kinase growth factors in prostate cancer.
He trained on the Manchester Urology Speciality Rotation and was awarded the FRCS (Urology) in 2006.
He began his NHS Urology consultant post in 2007 at Sunderland. During his role there he has developed the ureteric and renal stone service introducing flexible ureterorenoscopy and holmium laser stone fragmentation initially. He then went on to develop a Fixed lithotripsy service for the region. He regularly performs complex stone surgery and is part of the BAUS (British Association of Urological Surgeons) subsection of Endourology and takes part in the BAUS National audit for this.
For men with difficulty voiding he offers the latest medical treatment or surgical treatment with the minimally invasive Urolift procedure or a TURP procedure. In the near Future the Rezum steam injection procedure will also be offered.
