About me

Mr Emad H Aly is a Consultant Colorectal & General Surgeon in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for the University of Aberdeen (https://abdn.pure.elsevier.com/en/persons/emad-aly). He has a specialist interest in Colorectal Surgery. He provides full range of colorectal open and laparoscopic resections for benign and malignant diseases. He provides surgery for benign anorectal conditions such as simple & complex perianal fistula, haemorrhoidal artery ligation for haemorrhoids and cleft closure for pilonidal sinus. He also provides upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Mr Aly is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), American Society of Colon and Rectum Surgery(FASCRS), Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow (FRCS) and Faculty of Surgical Trainers RCSEd (FFSTEd). He is a trainer for the Aberdeen Fellowship in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery. He is a reviewer & member of the editorial board of surgical journals. He also has many publications in peer reviewed journals & poster presentations in national and international meetings on Colorectal & General Surgery.

Mr Aly has a major interest in medical education and completed a master’s in education (MEd) with focus on Educational Leadership & Management. He developed a number of teaching modules for University of Aberdeen medical students and he is also a convenor for several undergraduate & postgraduate courses for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is an examiner for the Royal Colleges’ surgical examinations. He held the role of Director for Surgical Education for the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland.
