About me
James graduated from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals London in1995 and is a fully qualified orthopaedic and trauma surgeon. He undertook a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore and specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle problems in children and adults, from foot pain and ingrowing toenails through sports injuries and fractures to total ankle replacement. He uses the most up to date surgical techniques to optimise outcomes and recovery times for his patients.
He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells in 2005 and went on to lead the development of foot and ankle surgery in the area including setting up the only multidisciplinary Charcot diabetic foot and ankle clinic in Kent. Together with Lt. Col. Tania Cubison. he formed the regional complex lower limb reconstruction service, based at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, but treating patients from across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London.
He is committed to teaching and ran the Foot and Ankle section of the South East Thames Higher Surgical Training Programme, based at Guy's Hospital, from 2005-2017. Over the past year he has taught on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, Oxford and Cambridge Foot and Ankle Surgery courses as well as the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Advanced Foot and Ankle Course. He also contributed a chapter to "Core Topics in Foot and Ankle Surgery" (Cambridge University Press, 2018), one of the most up to date text books for foot and ankle surgeons.
James is regularly asked to lecture both national and international conferences for foot and ankle surgeons and in the last few months has been an invited speaker not only to the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, but also to the German Orthopaedic Society (DKOU) and the European Foot and Ankle Society in Geneva.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association and sits on the Scientific Committee of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society as well as the Orthopaedic Expert Working Group for NHS England. He also currently sits on the council of the European Foot and Ankle Society.
