About me

I have been an NHS Consultant Podiatric surgeon since 2001. My NHS practice has been based at Newark Hospital and over this period of time I have established a busy foot surgery service with multiple trainees successfully passing through the department.
I have had operating privileges at BMI The Park Hospital since 2007 and have recently obtained privileges at BMI Lincoln Hospital. I have an interest in pathology of the 1st MTP joint (big toe joint) including Hallux Valgus (bunion) and Hallux Rigidus (arthritis of big toe joint) as well as performing many revision surgeries for previously failed Hallux Valgus surgeries. I also have an interest in injection therapy for painful joints and Morton’s Neuroma and also offer surgical excision or decompression surgery for this extremely painful condition.
My clinics at The Park Hospital are held on Tuesday and Friday mornings with a regular theatre session on Friday afternoons. My clinics at BMI Lincoln are on Monday mornings with a theatre session on Saturday mornings.
I obtained my Fellowship at Solihull Hospital and subsequently worked at Solihull and Buxton Hospitals as a registrar. I have attended training seminars worldwide including USA, Belgium and Germany. I am independent prescriber following completion of the course at Huddersfield University and I am also on the HCPC register as an annotated Podiatric Surgeon.
I like to think that I place the patient at the centre of any care and always discuss the risks and benefits of any treatment I recommend and am happy to discuss any concerns patients may have prior to surgery. It is my belief that “it takes as long as it takes” and no patient will ever be rushed out of my consulting room if they have any queries or concerns, they wish to discuss. During this difficult pandemic I have commenced offering Telephone consultations to all patients but of course this does not replace face to face examinations which are crucial to surgical planning.
I have always had a desire to give back to the profession and have been an active surgical tutor for many years and have acted as examiner and been a member of the examinations board of the College of Podiatry. I was a faculty board member for 7 years and acted as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Surgery as well as held the position of Chair of the Northern Deanery for 3 years.

I enjoy teaching and have lectured both Nationally and Internationally on various subjects including Morton’s Neuroma and Hallux Valgus correction, most recently I lectured in Toronto Canada to the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine. I like to invest my time in training junior Podiatric Surgeons and have lectured at the National Podiatry Conference over the last five years on Hallux Valgus and have lead workshops on Osteotomy techniques for Hallux Valgus and skin suturing workshops. I have been a visiting lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University where I led on the Anatomy dissection module on the MSc in Theory of Podiatric Surgery and was also a visiting lecturer and examiner for Huddersfield University on the MSc in Theory of podiatric Surgery on the anatomy and radiology modules.
Recently I have undertaken training as an expert witness and have attended training by Bond Solon in report writing and now undertake expert witness work as part of my practice.
My practice at BMI hospitals consists of seeing both privately insured patients and self-funding patients. I am registered with all of the major health insurance providers and well as benevolent funds. I also offer NHS appointments which can be accessed by GPs using Choose and Book.
