About me
Dr Oliver Coen is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist and has a busy NHS practice at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He offers independent private practice through the GenesisCare UK network of specialist outpatient cancer centres.
Dr Coen specialises in the treatment of both Lower Gastrointestinal Cancers and Gynaecological Cancers. His expertise includes technical radiotherapy planning using advanced techniques and image fusion, systemic anticancer therapies such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy and brachytherapy.
For Lower Gastrointestinal Cancers he predominantly treats rectal cancer in the curative-intent setting, either combined with surgery to reduce the risk of relapse or for suitable patients, used alone with the intent of cure without the need for an operation. He also treats anal cancer using chemoradiotherapy for cure or when this is not possible with a combination of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy for control and improvement in quality of life.
For Gynaecological Cancers he treats endometrial, cervical, vulval and vaginal cancers. This includes the use of radiotherapy to reduce the risk of relapse following surgery in patients with high risk features. He also treats locally advanced cervical, vulval or vaginal tumours using chemoradiotherapy for cure and has expertise in a range of advanced brachytherapy techniques.
Dr Coen offers radiotherapy for symptom management when cancer cannot unfortunately be cured.
