About me

I am a registered Counselling Psychologist who has over 20 years combined experience of working in the NHS, voluntary services and private practice. I have undertaken various roles in my career, supporting both children and adults with their mental health in a variety of settings, including CAMHS, adult services and in more specialist services such as obesity and pain management. I now have my own private practice and work within British Psychological Guidelines which state that all practitioner psychologists engage in continuous, structured supervision appropriate to workload, client risk, and level of experience.

I describe myself as approachable and authentic and have a genuine and compassionate understanding of others' emotional experience. I understand that coming to therapy can feel like a challenge, and I know the importance of creating a safe space that allows you to share your experience within a trusting therapeutic relationship. Further, I give much value to working in a non-judgmental way, respecting diversity and inclusion. I work holistically with you to explore all aspects of physical and emotional wellbeing, and I use my theoretical knowledge and clinical experience to inform me which approach best fits your needs.

Areas of interest

Integrative Approach

I have worked with a range of presentations including anxiety, stress, eating disorders, social anxiety, OCD, postnatal depression, sleep disorder, phobias, relationship difficulties, gender and sexuality, and bereavement. My areas of interest include disability, social anxiety, and interpersonal relationships, with a special interests in managing long term health conditions.

I am the editor of a book titled Psychologists' lived experience of disability navigating practice which is due out this Autumn.

I employ a wide range of therapeutic interventions including the evidence based practice of cognitive behavioural therapy CBT, and third wave therapies such as Compassionate Focused Therapy CFT and Acceptance Commitment Therapy ACT. I also apply the principals of Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic therapy which are particularly suited to longer term challenges that are perhaps more deep rooted.
