Biography:
Mr Babar Kayani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Surgeon with specialist expertise in adult hip and knee conditions. He is able to manage over 80% of his patients without surgery with the use of analgesia, local injections, physiotherapy and orthotics. His clinical practice is centred on the latest, evidence-based care, with treatment strategies tailored around each patient's symptoms, functional goals, and lifestyle demands.

Mr Kayani has a subspecialist interest in complex primary hip and knee replacements, revision (redo) hip and knee replacements, robotic?assisted joint replacements, and failed or infected hip and knee replacements. He works within the multidisciplinary team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. This is ranked as the leading Orthopaedic Hospital in the UK and in the top ten orthopaedic hospitals globally.

Education and Training:
Mr Kayani completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College London and completed his orthopaedic residency training on the North East Thames Rotation. Following this, he completed a senior fellowship in complex primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Mr Kayani subsequently completed a second senior fellowship in robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements and sports injuries at University College London Hospital, London, England.

Academia:
Mr Kayani completed a PhD at University College London, investigating the effects of robotic technology on patients undergoing total knee replacements. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed publications and given over 250 national or international presentations. Mr Kayani has served as the principal investigator of five randomised controlled trials at University College Hospital and received multiple grants from national research institutes and industry partners.

Mr Kayani has received academic prizes from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS Eng), the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), Orthopaedic Research United Kingdom (ORUK), the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA), the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT), and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).

Professional Memberships:
Mr Kayani is on the editorial board of the respected Bone and Joint Journal and an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association and European Hip Society.
