About me
I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon with over 10 years of experience in urology, specialising in robotic prostate cancer surgery. My practice is mainly robot-assisted radical prostatectomy, and transperineal prostate biopsy. I also have an interest in benign disease of the prostate. I completed a urological fellowship in Oxford and hold specialist certifications in robotic surgery.
Prostate cancer surgery is the core of my practice. I perform over 80 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies per year across my NHS work, alongside a large volume of transperineal prostate biopsies for men being investigated for possible prostate cancer. My surgical approach is tailored to each patient: I offer precision nerve-sparing techniques and modified Retzius-sparing prostatectomy, with the aim of achieving cancer clearance while protecting urinary control and sexual function. Pelvic anatomy and prostate surgery are where the great majority of my operative experience sits. I have a specific interest and practice in high-risk prostate cancer surgery.
I maintain a detailed outcomes log covering cancer clearance rates, continence recovery, and sexual function recovery. This informs the advice I give to each patient and supports honest, evidence-based conversations about what surgery can and cannot achieve.
Beyond prostate cancer, I perform complex robotic cystectomy for bladder cancer, TURP for benign prostatic enlargement and bladder outflow obstruction, and TURBT for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder tumours.
My clinical work runs alongside an active research programme in prostate cancer. My research focuses on using better data, including advanced imaging and genomics, to improve diagnosis, patient selection, and treatment outcomes. I contribute to publications, service development, and quality improvement in robotic surgery and prostate cancer diagnostics.
I communicate directly and without unnecessary jargon. Patients coming to me for assessment, treatment, or a second opinion can expect an open and hollistic discussion of their options, based on current evidence and my own outcomes.
