About me

The essence of psychotherapy, in my experience, is a return home to ourselves. How we do that is a unique journey that cannot be contrived or wished into existence. It takes intention, willingness and heart and more often than not, it requires a guide or a fellow companion with whom to traverse the terrain of the psyche and soma/body.

Healing does not happen in a vacuum, and it is not an instant fix. It is more helpful to think of it as a process of uncovering our histories, current struggles, how we get our needs met, and the ways we compromise ourselves. It is a way of getting clear on what really matters to us.

The process of becoming a person did not begin when we decided to 'be somebody.' Rather, we are rooted in our culture, ancestral practices, language, beliefs, and wounding that all make up our unique way of being in the world. Because our sense of self emerged from an interpersonal context, psychotherapy understands that healing also happens in relation to another.

The approach to therapy that I offer is mindfulness-based psychotherapy. It is an integrative way to therapy that is unique to the client in question. It draws from a multitude of approaches somatic, psychodynamic, existential, trauma-based, and humanistic, to name a few with the intention to meet, hold and transform what most needs our attention. Felt-sensing, attunement and co-regulation happen as we learn to deeply listen to our thoughts, feelings, and sensations in a space of acceptance and care.

In many ways, the presence of another can help us experience ourselves more authentically and fully.
