About me

Dr Christopher Bosshardt is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine with specialist expertise in musculoskeletal medicine, exercise-based rehabilitation within the NHS, community and military settings, alongside extensive experience in elite and professional sport. He works across both private systems and the NHS, managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries.

He works with patients of all activity levels - from elite athletes to recreational exercisers and those managing long-term musculoskeletal conditions - helping them recover from injury, return safely to activity, and improve long-term health and performance.

His approach is practical, evidence-based and patient-focused, with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, clear treatment plans, and helping patients return confidently to the activities they enjoy. He takes a holistic approach to optimising function, using individualised, stepwise rehabilitation strategies incorporating lifestyle strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes. Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, he ensures patients receive efficient, expert, and well-rounded care throughout their recovery and treatment.

Dr Bosshardt has held senior medical roles across professional football and rugby, including Club Doctor for Portsmouth FC, Head of Medical for the England Women's Rugby Union team, the 'Red Roses', as well as roles across elite tennis, ballet, cricket, athletics, cycling and other sports and activities. He has also worked with England Para Football and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup.

His clinical interests include acute and chronic sports injuries, tendon problems, muscle injuries, joint pain, concussion management, and return-to-sport planning. He is also experienced in diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, shockwave therapy and exercise medicine for chronic disease management.

Dr Bosshardt completed a Master's degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health at University College London and was awarded the prestigious Macleod Medal for achieving the highest national mark in the Faculty of Sport & Exercise Medicine Membership Examination.
