About me

Gerwyn qualified as Registered Mental Health Nurse in 1998 and between 2004 and 2023 he worked as a lecturer/senior lecturer in mental health nursing at Cardiff University.

He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Cardiff University in 2018 and achieved Accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) in 2021.

Gerwyn combined working as an academic with roles in the NHS as a High Intensity Therapist in Community Mental Health, Primary Care and as a Community Veterans Mental Health Therapist. Gerwyn is a veteran himself having served in the Royal Air Force prior to becoming a mental health nurse.

Since October 2024 Gerwyn has worked as a lecturer on the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT at Cardiff University. This is the only multi-professional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme in Wales accredited by the BABCP.

Gerwyn has a proven record of helping clients with a range of anxiety disorders, mood disorders and adjustment issues associated with being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
