About me

Hello, I'm Sam. I'm a counsellor, working in a person centred way. I'm open, and honest, and I'm here to help you with whatever you need to bring.Since I first started training as a therapist, I could see that it was never going to be as easy as one size fits all. We are all individuals, and even though we have our similarities, we all live our own realities. Because of this I knew it would be important to study a wide range of therapies and techniques to custom a session as much as I could to each person. I have a laid back, kind demeanour, but I'm also able to go down whatever path you need to go. I'm resilient, at times silly, and always there with you.
Therapy is a form of self care. We go through so much in our lives, and we carry it with us. You come to the stage when you need to unload, to let go of some of what you're carrying around with you. Therapy offers you a safe place to do this, and to sort through what you want to keep with you, and what you can finally let go of.
There are many aspects to successful therapy. First, success means something different to everyone. It's down to you to decide what you want to achieve with therapy, and when you feel you've reached it. To do this, I think there are two main factors. 1 - the therapeutic relationship. You have to find the therapist that's right for you, someone who'll work to your best interests and give you that space to talk and explore. 2 - your commitment. I don't have any magic words, but you can take any words and make them work for you. The magic is all yours!
