About me
Mr Benjamin Cosway is a Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon with more than a decade of specialist surgical experience. Practising at the Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle (for professional voice), he provides personalised, evidence-based care for the full range of general ENT conditions, routinely treating patients aged 16 and over for ear, hearing, nasal conditions, and general throat symptoms.
Nationally, Mr Cosway plays a leading role in shaping standards of ENT and head & neck care. He co-authored the latest UK Head & Neck Cancer Guidelines and leads the national advanced training programme for future head and neck surgeons. He also serves as the North East Regional Representative for ENT UK, ensuring that patients, whether seeking routine treatment or complex surgery, benefit from the most current, evidence-based expertise available.
Alongside his general ENT practice, Mr Cosway is the only surgeon in the North East with dual subspecialist expertise in laryngology and head, neck and thyroid surgery. His national reputation in voice care is reflected in his role as the laryngology representative for the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM), an organisation that supports professional performers in maintaining and optimising their vocal health.
As an accomplished singer with extensive performance experience, including national stadium tours at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium and Birmingham Arena, and appearances at the London Palladium, Mr Cosway brings a rare, real-world understanding of the demands placed on the professional voice. This allows him to expertly support touring vocalists, theatre performers, broadcasters and anyone concerned about their voice or throat.
