About me
Abby adopts a holistic therapeutic approach. This includes considering all the different components that may influence our experience of suffering: personal experiences/history, biology, relationships and people around the individual, which may shape difficulties in the here-and-now. Abby aims to work collaboratively with clients as a team: with clients' being the experts of their experience, and Abby bringing some psychological knowledge.
Abby's doctoral training means she has experience using a wide range of psychological approaches across different age groups. However, the main psychological approaches she uses are acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Abby is also a trained EMDR therapist. She aims to help individuals understand their difficulties, equip them with skills to reduce their impact, and support people to indentify their values to help them build a rich and fulfilling life.
Abby has experience working with both children and adults, supporting them with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem and OCD. She has extensive experience providing therapeutic support for neurodivergent people. Abby also specialises in helping people who have long-term physical health conditions and managing the psychological impact of these (e.g., chronic pain, epilepsy).
