About me
Hello there! I've been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2010, for an NHS counselling service, four charities and in private practice. This has given me a lot of experience of supporting people with various life and mental health challenges.
What is important in my work?
- providing a safe and supportive environment for dealing with personal challenges
- building a warm and trusting relationship
- offering various ways of working - within my training - because different people and problems benefit from different approaches
Experience
I have worked in my current profession for an NHS counselling service, four charities and in private practice. Before that I was a recovery & connect mental health worker in the community, supporting people with more enduring mental health challenges.
Until recently I provided counselling and trauma therapy for young people at 42nd Street, a well-respected Greater Manchester charity.
I now offer sessions from my private counselling room in Glossop (near Manchester), and remotely, to people of all ages.
Specialist training
In early 2017 I completed the standard training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and then obtained accreditation with the EMDR Association UK in 2019.
My Advanced Certificate in Counselling for Depression enables me to offer an emotion-focused approach that works well not only for depression but for many other issues rooted in suppressed or unacknowledged feelings.
I also have experience and training in facilitating groups.
