About me
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
I have worked in mental health teams in the NHS for over eight years, including completing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. During this training I undertook a variety of placements, supporting people experiencing a range of difficulties.
I pride myself on providing an inclusive therapeutic space for people from a diverse range of backgrounds, identities, and sexualities. From my experience I bring an understanding that everyone has their own rich story, and I see my role as providing a space that is safe enough to explore and understand your experiences, in a way that supports you to work towards your hopes and goals for therapy.
What will it be like when I meet you?
Whether you have been to therapy before or this is your first time, it can be daunting to meet with a new therapist; I always aim for our first session together to feel compassionate and empowering. Our first appointment is an assessment session, where I'll ask questions to gather more information about why you have reached out for support and what your hopes for therapy might be.
Our first meeting is also a time for you to get a sense of how I work as a therapist, and I welcome any questions or worries you might want to bring to our session. I have been told I have a 'gentle but firm' approach, we can collaborate in a way that works for you, but with encouragement and reframing when needed.
What therapies do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
My clinical training enables me to work in an integrative way, meaning I bring in different therapeutic approaches depending on your goals and our agreed focus for therapy.
Compassion is at the heart of the work I do, and it is my hope that by providing a space to explore we can aim to develop an understanding of what is going on for you at present. I use a lens that recognises the systemic, political, and social context of your life experiences, to better understand what you bring to our therapeutic space.
I work with children and adults who are experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood and depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress, burnout, attachment and relationship difficulties, and adjustment to new or early parenthood.
What are your interests outside of psychology?
I've found that a balance between socialising and taking time to slow down is how I enjoy my own time best. I love to cook and enjoy hosting and trying new recipes, I also love to read, explore London and enjoy my crafty creative hobbies whenever possible.
