About me
Salem is on the Specialist Register as a Consultant Respiratory and General Physician. He was trained in the Yorkshire Region as Registrar and Senior Registrar in Respiratory and General Medicine at Leeds General Infirmary, Killingbeck Hospital (the Regional Cardiothoracic Centre) and St James’s Teaching Hospital. He has been a Consultant Respiratory/General Physician at Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust from January 1996 until 2004 and then joined WWL in April 2004.
Salem provides a comprehensive Respiratory Service. His areas of interest are sleep-related breathing disorders, respiratory failure, bronchiectasis and acute non-invasive ventilation with excellent patient outcomes and significant cost saving.
Salem is a keen teacher and dedicated to Medical Education and training of junior doctors. He has been a WWL Royal College Tutor since 2004 and taken the lead in the training of junior doctors both at the Trust and the North Sector levels and has played a major role in the implementation of the Modernisation of Medical Career Programme. Salem is an Examiner and Chair of Examiner of the final Royal College of Physicians Exam both on the national and international levels. Honorary senior lecturer Manchester Medical School.
Under my leadership my unit was rated the best in country 2018.
