About me

I am a well established and experienced consultant in Gastroenterology, in practice since 2000. My NHS base is at the Barnsley Hospital NHS FT.

I look after patients with a variety of upper and lower gastrointestinal problems and perform a range of endoscopic procedures.

I have active research interests with more than 25 publications and 40 abstracts published over the years.

I have previously served as Training Programme Director for SpRs in South Yorkshire and actively participate in teaching SpRs, nurses and GPs. I regularly teach endoscopic procedures locally and in St George's Hospital, London.

I am a regular examiner for the MRCP PACES and student OSCE examinations

As a member of the British Society Of Gastroenterology (BSG), I have regularly served on various sections and currently am on the Oesophageal, NGM and Liver sections.

My management experience includes having been the lead clinician in Gastroenterology and Clinical Director of the Medical CBU in Barnsley for more than 5 years.

I have been awarded several Clinical Excellence awards

My outside interests include Fitness, Walking, Travelling and Golf.

Areas of interest

• Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD);
Irritable Bowel Disease (IBS); Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); Iron deficiency anemia; Abdominal pain; Liver disease and abnormal liver functions (LFTs).

Endoscopic procedures that I have expertise in are Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP and Capsule Endoscopy.
