About me

www.manchesterdermatologist.co.uk
Dermatologists look after patients with all forms of skin disease including skin cancer, acne, psoriasis and other rashes. Dermatology is a fascinating speciality- there are over 2000 different types of skin disease! Skin is a unique and very special organ. If it’s not right it can impact on all aspects of a patient’s life- physical, emotional and social.

I have been a Dermatologist since 1997 and am always aware of the impact skin disease can have on my patients. I trained in Medicine in Newcastle and Dermatology in South Trent before undertaking a Mohs’ skin cancer/facial surgery fellowship in Cardiff and then Lisbon. I am one of around 40-50 fully trained Mohs’ surgeons in the UK. Mohs' surgery is a specialist technique for removing difficult “non-melanoma” skin cancers (squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas (“rodent ulcers”). I set up the Mohs' skin cancer service in Sheffield winning the Hospital’s Service development of the year award.

I am on the GMC Speciality Register for Dermatology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London.

I have a Masters degree in Medical Education from Cardiff University (gained with distinction) and regularly teach other doctors about skin disease. I have also been an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians for many years. I see patients of all ages including children and am a Consultant Dermatologist at Salford Royal (“Hope”) Hospital in Manchester.
