About me
Mr Damien CM Yeo is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in general ophthalmology, strabismus, ocular motility disorders, and paediatric ophthalmology. He is based at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust and St Paul's Eye Unit in Liverpool.
Mr Yeo is nationally recognised for his expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of strabismus. He routinely operates on patients with previous failed or partially successful squint procedures. His practice is grounded in a deep understanding of binocular vision, neurology, and the functional and cosmetic impact of eye misalignment across all ages.
After completing his medical degree, Mr Yeo trained in ophthalmology across the UK and achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). He completed higher specialist training through the Wales Deanery, followed by an advanced clinical fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and The Royal London Hospital.
In addition to his NHS role, Mr Yeo provides private second opinions, surgical planning, and long-term management for patients with conditions such as:
 intermittent and constant exotropia
 diplopia (double vision)
 convergence insufficiency
adult residual strabismus after childhood squint
Mr Yeo is also an active academic and surgical educator. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including national cohort studies on infantile esotropia and comparative work on surgical techniques. He lectures regularly on paediatric ophthalmology, ocular genetics, visual development disorders, and the expanding role of digital healthcare.
A strong advocate for innovation, Mr Yeo integrates high-resolution ocular imaging, digital assessment tools, and modern surgical planning into his clinical work. He is engaged in several technology collaborations aimed at improving ophthalmic care for both children and adults.
Known for his approachable manner and clear communication style, Mr Yeo provides honest, evidence-based advice with tailored treatment plans. He recognises the psychosocial and professional impact of strabismus and is committed to achieving both functional and cosmetic improvements. His surgical philosophy focuses on meeting patient expectations with as few procedures as possible, while minimising scarring and discomfort.
Whether a patient presents with long-standing misalignment, recent-onset diplopia, or requires a second opinion on surgery, Mr Yeo brings expertise, clarity, and precision to every consultation.
