About me

I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for over a decade in NHS services, including Senior Clinician and Clinical Lead roles, before leaving this employment to focus solely on private practice. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at UCL (University College London) and am a registered practitioner with the Health Professions Council.
I have experience of supporting individuals and families for a wide range of needs and presenting problems, and for this I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, such as CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), CFT (Compassion-focused Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EFFT (Emotion-Focused Family Therapy). I believe that everyone's difficulties make sense as we are all finding ways to cope with life's challenges in the best way possible. However, by doing so we can sometimes find ourselves stuck in patterns that inadvertently and unintentionally maintain our difficulties. This is when we may need support to identify what needs to be done differently to help us move forward and I would like to help you with this.

I have particular expertise in supporting people and their families affected by eating disorders. I have experience of delivering evidence-based approaches for the treatment of eating disorders, such as CBT-E (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy-Enhanced), CBT-T (a 10-session model of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for eating disorders), FBT-AN/BN (Family-based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa/Bulimia Nervosa), MANTRA (an integrative and specialist therapy for adults suffering from Anorexia Nervosa) and CBT-AR (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).
I am also passionate about offering support to parents and carers who can be the best and most helpful resource to sufferers of mental health problems. Unfortunately, too often they feel helpless and disempowered, and sadly excluded from many mainstream mental health services. Drawing on the theories and principles of Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), regardless of the carer's or loved one's age, I offer skills practice and guidance to help rebuild or strengthen their relationship, which is so often strained and impacted upon by mental health difficulties.
