About me
Professor Loftus qualified with distinction in surgery in 1992, and trained in vascular surgery in Leicester. He was appointed as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the St Georges Vascular Institute in 2004 to help develop the clinical and research reputation of the Unit. He is now Professor of Vascular Surgery at St Georges, University of London.
Prof Loftus runs a clinical research unit within the St Georges Vascular Institute has been Director of the regional aneurysm screening programme for South London and East Surrey. He is the past President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland (2018-19), Past-President of the British Society of Endovascular Therapy (2015-16) and current President of the European Society of Vascular Surgery. He is deputy chair of the national Clinical Reference Group and sits on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons. A pioneer in the field of minimally invasive and endovascular techniques, Prof Loftus has published over 300 research papers and multiple books and chapters relating to vascular surgery.
