About me

I qualified MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1989.
After a brief period in South Africa doing both anaesthesia and general practice training I moved to the UK in 1994.
I undertook specialist training in anaesthesia at Sheffield University Hospitals and then I did a Fellowship in pain management and neuroanaesthesia in Toronto Western Hospital in 2001.
I have been a consultant in anaesthesia and pain management in Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust since 2002.
I was clinical lead for the chronic pain management service since 2006

Areas of interest

I am a specialist in chronic pain management:
I have a particular interest in interventional chronic pain management and have undertaken a higher qualification in this area - the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice.
I am highly experienced in the use of radiofrequency dennervation and the use of neuromodulation procedures (spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation) in the management of chronic spinal pain.
