About me

Having initially qualified and trained at Southampton University Teaching Hospital, I undertook specialty training post in the prestigious North West Thames training rotation. I spent over three years at the internationally renowned St Mark's Hospital, gaining experience in colonoscopic techniques, nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease before rotating through Charing Cross, Hammersmith and Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals aquiring expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic Gastroscopy, advanced Colonoscopy and ERCP.
Following placements in both East and West Hertfordshire and further experience at St Mary's Hospital London, I was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist in Hertfordshire in 2003.
I maintain a busy and extensive out-patient workload and high quality endoscopy service with excellent clinical outcomes in Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and ERCP. I lead an excellent palliative colonic stenting service, results from which have recently been presented at national and international meetings. I have also established a pyloric and duodenal stenting service within the trust.
I spent over seven years as Clinical Director for Gastroenterology. During this time I oversaw the development and building of two new endoscopy units, the establishment of the Digestive Diseases Unit at the Lister site and appointed 7 new Gastroenterology Consultant colleagues. I have also established a 24/7 acute Gastrointestinal bleeding rota and the Gastroenterologist of the week service which has further enhanced Gastroenterology provision within East and North Hertfordshire.
