About me
Hello, I am Laura Fox and I have 20 years' experience of supporting people with a range of issues including depression, grief, relationship issues, stress, and life changes. I worked in the NHS for over 10 years and now exclusively work in private practice.
As an experienced therapist and accredited member of the BACP and IPT UK I have developed two main ways of working and as such offer a range of support that can be tailored to suit you.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT);
IPT is structured psychotherapy that focuses on the link between our relationships and our mental wellbeing.
IPT is collaborative approach that focuses on the present and how we can improve our mental wellbeing by forming healthier relationships. As such in IPT I will guide you in exploring your issues and support you to develop goals to make changes for a healthier and happier you.
Integrative Counselling;
If you feel your past is impacting your life, or are feeling stuck or lost and are not sure how to move forward, counselling can support you to explore your issues.
Integrative Counselling is a creative approach where I can support you to explore the things that have shaped you. It can help you connect with emotions, understand past experiences and help you find a direction for your future.
Whatever approach we take, you have taken the first step and when we first meet, I will listen to what you bring and guide you to choose the approach that will work best for you.
Areas of interest
My main areas of specialism are depression; grief; relationship issues; illness and long term health issues; life changes; stress; addiction; adolescents.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT);
IPT is a goal focussed and collaborative approach, that works across 4 main themes;
- Bereavement
- Relationship Issues
- Struggling to feel engaged with others
- Adjusting to major changes (e.g. divorce, retirement or illness)
IPT-A (for adolescents);
I am trained in IPT-A which is a specific adaptation of IPT to support adolescents with the issues listed above. In this way I will work with young adults with the support of their family or team.
Integrative Counselling;
Integrative Counselling is a creative approach where I draw on a range of knowledge to support you.
An integrative approach can be beneficial because it's so personalised, helping you to reflect on your situation to develop emotional wellbeing and enabling you to live life to your full potential.
