About me

Dr Russell studied Medicine at University College and Middlesex Hospitals Medical School, London (1984-1990), qualifying in 1990. She undertook specialist registrar training in Endocrinology and Diabetes at the internationally renowned Departments of Endocrinology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and University College Hospital. She completed her PhD in Neuroendocrinology at Imperial College London, where she undertook research into pituitary endocrinology, publishing several first author papers in pituitary endocrinology and contributing to many other publications. She has been actively involved in teaching and training Specialist Registrars in Endocrinology, junior doctors and medical students.
Dr Russell was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007.
Dr Russell was appointed as Consultant Physician in endocrinology and diabetes at Chase Farm and Barnet Hospitals in 2002, now part of Royal Free London NHS Trust. She has developed a number of specialist services across the Trust to include thyroid and thyroid cancer services, high risk antenatal endocrine/diabetes services, multidisciplinary adolescent diabetes and diabetes foot services,. She is a core member of the North Central London Thyroid Cancer Network. In March 2022 Dr Russell was appointed Honorary Consultant in Endocrinology at UCLH, where she undertakes weekly endocrine clinics.
