About me
After training at St Thomas's Hospital, London, the South West of England and finally in the South East, I was appointed to a Clinical Lecturer post in Liverpool where I worked for three years. In 1999 I was appointed to my first full-time clinical post working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a strong interest in endoscopy, its therapeutic application (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP), inflammatory bowel disease, IBS, coeliac disease, rectal bleeding/piles and dyspepsia and teaching endoscopy to regional trainees.
As well as being the Clinical Lead in Endoscopy and Gastroenterology, I developed a busy inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology service and in my later role as the first Clinical Director of the Cheshire Bowel Screening Program I helped set up that new flagship regional service.
Several years ago I moved to my last NHS consultant post based at the Countess of Chester Hospital to support and develop a larger team of gastroenterologists, surgeons and interventional radiologists providing a 24-hour 7 day a week out of hours gastrointestinal bleeding service for our patients in Cheshire. I provide expert gastroenterology advice to the Health Ombudsman.
I work full-time at the Nuffield Hospital Chester and the Spire Hospital Wirral.
