I graduated in 1982 and have over 30 years of experience of clinical medicine and cardiology. Currently I work as a senior consultant cardiologist between Southend University hospital and the Essex cardiothoracic centre, Basildon.

In keeping with my ethos of providing the best possible care to patients I have been responsible to establish several new and innovative services in the region like stress echocardiography, cardiac CT angiography, exercise echo for valve diseases, use of BNP to diagnose heart failure, dedicated nurse led heart failure service, atrial fibrillation nurse led service, 3-D echocardiography and the recent one stop atrial fibrillation service to name a few.

I am passionate about teaching and training of our next generation of physicians. Over the years I have been at the forefront of educational activities including teaching medical students, junior doctors and post graduate trainees. I am a tutor, clinical and educational supervisor in the hospitals and also participate in examining post graduates for the Royal college of physicians. I was part of the faculty to run the Phillips echocardiography courses at King's college, London. Recently courses as well as study days have been arranged at the cardiothoracic centre. I was the pioneer of the new technique of non invasive CT coronary angiography in the region and currently run 6 monthly courses in London for train other cardiologists and radiologists.

I am happily married to a local dermatologist and have two lovely sons.
